AUSTRAC has ordered an external audit of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Australia over concerns about potential AML/CTF breaches. The regulator identified concerns about customer identification, ongoing monitoring and reporting obligations.  

Europol arrests 17 individuals in criminal banking network crackdown
Europol has arrested 17 people across Europe involved in operating illegal banking services. These individuals allegedly provided cash-based criminal banking services, including converting cryptocurrencies into cash, to organised crime groups. The coordinated action led to the seizure of millions of euros.  

Germany shuts down eXch crypto platform over money laundering allegations 
German authorities have shut down crypto platform eXch, alleging its involvement in laundering $1.9 billion in criminal proceeds. Investigators also seized €34 million worth of cryptocurrencies. 

Julius Baer fined $5.2 million over AML failings  
Swiss private bank Julius Baer has been fined $5.2 million by Swiss authorities for failures in its AML controls. The penalty follows investigations into how the bank handled higher-risk client relationships.
