Frequently Asked Questions
General
1. How has the KYC360 Academy changed?
The Academy has been expanded to offer a wider range of technical, professional development and C-Suite certificated programmes. While the format of some of these programmes has changed, the user experience remains consistent and has been significantly enhanced into a comprehensive certificated framework of education and training.
2. What happens to any courses I have already completed?
There is no impact - all records of current course completions remain. If you have previously completed a course which forms part of a new certificated programme, it will count towards that certification.
3. What happens if I am halfway through a current course and the course is updated?
Your overall course status will remain as ‘In Progress’. However when you click into the course and click on the ‘Resume where you left off’ button, your progress will be reset. The status of the course material itself will change from ‘Incomplete’ to ‘Not started’.
Course Content
4. What specific topics are covered in the course?
This varies according to the courses and certificates selected. There are 4 main areas of study: AML Professional Development courses; AML Risk Management; Role-Specific AML courses and AML technology programmes.
5. What is the level of detail provided for each topic?
This varies across the technical certifications and the professional development certifications. For example, a certificate in KYC360 Screening Technology will cover all the functionality within the solution so will be very comprehensive, but a single professional development course will be focused on a specific topic, such as verifying source of wealth, or writing effective SARs.
The level of content changes across the range of courses. Certifications are categorised by the level or degree of complexity and the number of courses to be studied. The level of courses includes Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced – See: Certification Framework Chart.
6. Are there any prerequisites for taking a course?
Generally, no – the Introductory Courses are open entry. For direct entry to the Intermediate courses, learners should have a good general education, demonstrating strong written communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving.
For the Professional Certificate in Risk Management there are no prerequisites needed. The learner should be an executive, board member, or in a senior role within the organisation, but this is guidance only and it is at the discretion of the learner and firm itself.
7. Can I download course materials?
Other than the transcripts of videos which can be downloaded, all learning content is contained within the course and is not downloadable. However, learners can access the courses as often as needed so, although they will need a connection to the KYC360 Academy to access it.
Course Format
8. How long do the courses take to complete?
Generally, a course is designed to be completed in 1-2 hours, depending on learning capability and prior experience. Completion of a Certificate is based on the successful completion of a group of courses. For example, the Certificate in AML has ten Courses. One key advantage of e-learning courses is that you can study at your own pace.
9. How many courses am I allowed to study as a learner? What is meant by ‘open access?
Once you have been enrolled as a learner, you can study as many, or as few courses, as you desire. This includes all professional courses and certificates and any of the courses in the Professional Certificate in Risk Management.
The Academy adopts the principle of ‘Open Access’, which means that once you are registered as a learner you can choose one course, all courses, or any number in between at no additional cost.
10. How is the course material delivered (e.g. videos, readings, quizzes)?
The online courses combine various media elements, such as text, images, videos, links, knowledge checks (quizzes), interactive scenarios, case studies and end of course knowledge evaluations. These combine to provide an immersive learning experience.
11. Is there any interaction with instructors or other learners?
No. The courses are in the format of e-learning courses.
12. Are there any assignments or projects?
No. All interactions, such as case studies, interactive exercises, knowledge evaluations etc, are contained within the course.
Certification
13. Will I receive a certificate at the end of a course?
Every course, if successfully completed, is certificated with a Continual Professional Development award (CPD certificate), accredited by The CPD Certification Service.
If a learner completes a specified group of courses, they will in addition be awarded the formal Certificate in the discipline, e.g. Certificate in AML or Certificate in Sanctions or Certificate in KYC. In addition, each formal certificate carries designatory wording e.g. Cert (AML) and a digital badge e.g. Certified AML Analyst.
14. How do I get my certificate of completion?
Upon completing a certificated programme, you will be automatically emailed a link to your digital credentials. For other courses, you can download a CPD certificate once you’ve completed the course.
15. What are the requirements for earning the certificate?
This varies, depending on the certificated programme. But generally, you must complete all mandatory courses within the certificate programme.
16. Are your courses accredited?
Yes, our courses are accredited by The CPD Certification Service, a leading CPD certification body and are endorsed by Birmingham City University (BCU). This ensures that all our courses conform to key professional development principles and the highest standards of further learning value and structure.
