C-Suite AML Risk Management Programme

Summary

The Danske Bank scandal, one of the largest money laundering scandals in European history, centres on the bank’s Estonian branch, which processed an estimated 200 billion euros in suspicious transactions between 2007 and 2015. These transactions, many linked to high-risk customers in Russia, Azerbaijan, and other former Soviet states, were largely funnelled through non-resident accounts, bypassing effective AML scrutiny.

The course examines the key events, scrutinises the AML failures, governance and oversight errors, and focuses on how to strengthen board oversight procedures going forward.
